Argentyn 23 is colloidal silver. Simply put, colloidal silver is a made up of minuscule silver nanoparticles (typical size averages 45nm in diameter which is 5,000 times thinner than a human hair) that are suspended in water. Colloidal silver is produced via two primary methods: physical or chemical. The physical process involves grinding down silver into smaller particulates and then suspending them in water as colloids. Chemically created colloidal silver is the result of silver salt that has had a chemical reducer applied to it. Both are viable methods of production.

Silver has a long history of use as an antimicrobial medication. Utilizing silver predated modern antibiotics and was a standard method for the treatment and prevention of infections. In addition to acting similar to an antibiotic, Argentyn 23 has also been shown to combat infection of wounds, eczema, thrush and burns when applied topically, act as an anti-viral, and reduce inflammation and chemical related dermatitis.
