The flu season is upon us. The coughing, sneezing, and runny noses are all around us and we must either find a sterile place to hide or do something to protect ourselves from the dreaded flu. Doctors everywhere are suggesting an over-the-counter drug to help combat the symptoms once you have them, but did you know there is something better you could be taking?
You’re probably thinking, “What? There is something better than the flu shot?” Well, we have seen that the flu shot isn’t all that great at protecting us. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC), last year’s flu shot was only 18% effective! This means that even if you got the flu shot, it only cut the risk of contracting the flu by 18%. While the effectiveness of the shot was extremely low, the nasal spray flu vaccine was even worse; it didn’t work at all for kids aged 2 through 8.
According to researchers, the influenza A virus had mutated and that mutation was not factored in when the vaccine was developed. This led to many that had the flu shot, still having to experience the flu itself. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the first time that the shot didn’t work as well as hoped.
If you were one of the unlucky individuals that had to experience the flu last year, you probably went to the doctor in hope of relief. Many physicians recommend acetaminophen, better known as Tylenol, to reduce the fever and relieve any pain associated with the flu. Unfortunately, this may have not worked either. A new clinical trial shows that Tylenol has no effect on fighting the virus or reducing the severity of the symptoms.
The study was made up of a group of 80 volunteers between the age of 18 and 65. Each person was tested and found positive for the influenza infection (the flu). The participants were given either the maximum dose of Tylenol or were “treated” with a placebo for a total of five days. Their symptoms were recorded from day 5 to day 14 and they typically included runny nose, muscle pain, coughing, sore throat, and fatigue. When comparing the participant’s symptoms, the study concluded that there was no difference from those that took the acetaminophen and those that took the placebo. Dr. Irene Braithwaite, one of the study authors commented that although the pain medication was not found to have any harmful effects, it also didn’t seem to offer any benefits.
While this may sound bleak, don’t lose hope. There is something that you can take to combat infection and various bacteria: colloidal silver. Silver has been used in medicine for quite some time and has been a treatment option for various infections.
A laboratory test was conducted in 2012 by Larry C. Ford, M.D. from the UCLA School of Medicine to test just how well colloidal silver actually works. He discovered that the silver had the ability to kill over 650 bacteria, fungi, parasites, and molds. The silver was able to suffocate the pathogen within six minutes of contacting it.
In addition to being an antibacterial, colloidal silver is also an antiviral. It has been shown to reduce the HIV viral load and led to significant improvement in AIDS patients. Similar to how it reacts to bacteria, colloidal silver suffocates viruses like herpes, pneumonia, and warts. It also combats infections and problems on the skin, not just ones within the body. Because colloidal silver is an anti-fungal, it can help treat ringworm and Athlete’s foot which are both caused by fungi on the skin.
Colloidal silver not only kills, it also heals. A researcher from Syracuse University named Dr. Robert O. Becker was able to observe and tell about the healing powers of silver. His experiments showed him that silver was able to accelerate the healing process of injured tissues and stated that silver “profoundly stimulates healing in skin and other soft tissues in a way unlike any known natural process…”. Silver can be used not only orally, but can also be applied to the skin to help heal burns and scrapes while simultaneously acting as an anti-inflammatory. It sounds too good to be true, but it isn’t! Colloidal silver is all this and more! Add it to you medicine cabinet to help protect you and your family this flu season!
