What is Estrogen Dominance and How Can I Resolve It?

October 30, 2020

Estrogen is a naturally occurring hormone that plays an important role in functions such as childbearing, regulating cholesterol, and bone health. At the appropriate level, estrogen provides significant support to these and other areas of wellness. However, if estrogen levels exceed healthy norms, known as estrogen dominance, many issues can develop.

Cellular Support, produced by HoltraCeuticals, aims to help improve estrogen levels to help restore and maintain hormone balance. Regulating estrogen through the use of cellular support may alleviate PMS symptoms, reduce the risk of chronic disorders, and improve cellular activity. Read on to learn more about the impact of estrogen dominance and the impressive benefits of Cellular Support.

What is Estrogen Dominance?

Even though estrogen is a necessary component of health in both men and women, too much can cause significant problems. Estrogen imbalances may be caused by a variety of factors including: diet, bacterial imbalance in the gut or dysbiosis, exposure to BPAs and other plastic products, use of certain personal care products, heavy metals, stress, increased body fat, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and birth control. No matter the cause, an unresolved case of estrogen dominance increases the risk of hormone dysfunction, various cancers, autoimmune disease, and thyroid issues such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.

Depending on how it is metabolized, estrogen influences the body in different ways. Poor metabolization may contribute to estrogen dominance and increased PMS symptoms while healthier modes improve estrogen balance and alleviate symptoms. The liver metabolizes estrogen via three different paths, 2-Hydroxiestrone (2-OH), 4-Hydroxiestrone (4-OH), and 16-Hydroxiestone (16-OH). These pathways determine whether estrogen is converted into harmful or helpful metabolites. The 2-OH pathway is considered safest as it has the lowest risk of producing malignancy while also supporting areas of wellness such as mood and energy level. Conversely, the 4-OH and 16-OH pathways are associated with greater risk of breast cancer and an increase of PMS symptoms. Regulating these pathways is an important part of wellness and may be improved through the use of Cellular Support.

What is Cellular Support?

Cellular Support, produced by HoltraCeuticals, is a supplement formulated specifically to improve estrogen metabolization. The powerful supplement contains a variety of ingredients that influence specific components of estrogen activity. Cellular Support improves estrogen dominance which may reduce symptom severity and the risk of developing certain cancers. These benefits are made possible by the impressive support provided by ingredients including Vitamin E, Indole-3-Carbinol, Diindolymethane (DIM), and Calcium-D-Glucarate.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that provides exceptional benefits in treating estrogen dominance. Even though Vitamin E does not directly resolve estrogen imbalance, it can limit the negative effect it has on the body.

Estrogen dominance causes significant inflammation, which increases the risk of various disorders, dysfunction, and symptoms. The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant attributes of Vitamin E help to counteract the increased inflammation and oxidation triggered by elevated estrogen levels.

Elevated levels of estrogen also increase the likelihood of developing fibroids. If left untreated, fibroids can damage the reproductive system and cause symptoms such as pelvic pain and uterine bleeding. Vitamin E combats this by binding to toxic fatty acids that promote estrogen production. This helps regulate estrogen levels and reduce symptom intensity. Furthermore, vitamin E reduces the synthesis of prostaglandins (derivatives of polyunsaturated fats) and limits the release of lysosome enzymes. Doing so limits the risk of fibrosis and tempers estrogenic activity.

Indole-3-Carbinol (I3C)

Indole-3-Carbinol (I3C) is found in many cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, arugula, and cauliflower. Indole-3-Carbinol promotes Phase 1 liver detoxification which focuses on eliminating estrogen and the estrogen metabolites produced by 4-OH and 16-OH pathways. In addition to removing harmful metabolites, I3C promotes use of the 2-OH pathway, which produces metabolites that support mood, libido, healthy breast tissue, and protects reproductive health.

Diindolymethane (DIM)

Diindolymethane (DIM) is an enzyme converted from I3C that promotes removal of estrogen from the bloodstream allowing for greater metabolization in the liver. Much like I3C, DIM helps optimize estrogen metabolization be regulating 2-OH and 16-OH pathways. Studies show that maintaining a proper ratio of 2-OH-Estrone and 16-OH-Estrone is a notable factor of wellness. DIM plays an important role in regulating this balance, which protects various bodily functions. DIM also limits conversion of testosterone into estrogen. This can help restore hormone balance and alleviate symptoms of estrogen dominance such as bloating, breast tenderness, heavier flow, and discomfort.

Calcium-D-Glucarate

Calcium-D-Glucarate supports liver detoxification. It also improves removal of excess estrogen and its harmful metabolites that contribute to estrogen dominance. When estrogen levels are elevated, Calcium-D-Glucarate binds to excess estrogen allowing it to be safely flushed out of the system. This improves hormone balance and may alleviate symptoms of estrogen dominance. Calcium-D-Glucarate further supports estrogen detoxification by blocking enzymes that disrupt the bonding and removal process.

Recognizing Estrogen Dominance

Many women believe that uncomfortable and occasionally severe PMS symptoms are a normal occurrence. However, that is not the case. Increased intensity of PMS symptoms is perhaps the most obvious and immediate indicator of estrogen dominance. PMS symptoms occur on a spectrum and as estrogen becomes increasingly imbalanced, so too does the intensity and duration of PMS symptoms.

The most common symptoms of PMS exacerbated by estrogen dominance include:

  • Bloating
  • Changes in mood
  • Cramping
  • Fatigue
  • Fibrocystic or sensitive breasts
  • Skin issues
  • Uterine fibroids

Those suffering from a severe cases of estrogen dominance will likely experience symptoms of greater intensity including:

  • Cravings
  • Depression
  • Erratic mood swings
  • Headaches and/or migraines
  • Heavy menstrual flow
  • Insomnia
  • Severe cramping

There are multiple approaches to resolving the increased PMS symptoms and other issues associated with estrogen dominance. Perhaps the most effective and quickest method of alleviating estrogen dominance and restoring hormonal balance is through proper supplementation. Therefore, those suffering from PMS symptoms or other indicators of estrogen imbalance should consider supplementing with an estrogen regulating product such as Cellular Support.

Combat Estrogen Dominance with Cellular Support

Estrogen dominance is increasingly common and contributes significantly to the worsening of PMS, infertility, and other issues. Many women who suffer from exceptionally challenging PMS symptoms and other forms of discomfort often do not realize that resolving an estrogen imbalance may be the key to improving their situation. Fortunately, there is an easy way to provide support. Taking Cellular Support gives the body the resources it needs to alleviate symptoms, support detoxification, and improve estrogen balance. If you are suffering from estrogen-related dysfunction, consider using HoltraCeuticals’ Cellular Support.
